There are loads of challenges out their for people to train for, entering a challenge is a good way to motivate yourself daily. Many people give up training and getting fit because quite simply they don’t have a goal or target.

There are lots of different challenges out there from your basic 5 mile fun run to your full on walking across a dessert. It’s best to start telling people you are entering a challenge and raising money for charity as this will also help motivate you to train.

When training give yourself time to build up, start of slowly and regularly then have at least one long walk/ run / cycle a week to build up your endurance. There are loads of great fitness websites out there to get good advice from.

Good luck to Christos Niarchos we wish him luck that he hits his training goal.

As this news was out, my friend (working for Oracle Advertising) who’s so fond of trend setting jewellery pieces and loves crystal ornaments told me that the jewellery brand will “make a great impact” on the UK high street.

Moreover, the jewellery brand will have its own standalone stores, the first of which will open in London’s Westfield Stratford City mall in March. Also as a dedicated e commerce site.

Swarovski’s jewellery sets will range from £10 to £60 for cut-crystal and pearl rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and bangles. A cut crystal Swarovski necklace range starts at £1,000.

The latest brand – Lola&Grace will have collections for four seasons with a blend of culture, contemporary and vintage design for all occasions. The core Swarovski brand range includes jewellery, accessories, fashion and miniature cut-crystal figurines.

In the UK, latest research has shown that the brands aspiring to connect with 18-to 24-year-olds must now tailor their offers to five distinct groups within this demographic. Among these, most focused ones are the ‘Cotton Wool Kids’ -financially protected young adults, ‘Go-Getters’ and the ‘Passive Massive’.

Young people show diverse attitudes towards the economy, their education and consumer brands, and this have categorised them and fall into this five distinct groups. The research has proved that not all of these consumers respond to economic hardship in the same way. So that brands and marketing groups like Appco Group needs to tailor their offers accordingly.

But experts warn that, upmarket brands should be worried about this group latching onto them, creating “chav” associations such as Burberry suffered in the Nineties. It is suggested that these brands need to control their distribution more closely in order to avoid being damaged by an abundance of discounted or counterfeit goods.

Comprising only 17% of 18 to 24-year-olds, according to the report, the vast majority of young adults have a far more positive outlook and show diverse interests to which brands could target their appeal.

As smartphone and tablet penetration extends further than ever before, brands are moving into new territory by taking learning digital with engaging, educational apps.

Reports from the National Literacy Trust suggest that, almost nine out of 10 school pupils aged seven to 11 have a mobile phone, although less than three-quarters have books at home. With mobile use so widespread, the UK education sector is waking up to the opportunities that technology can offer in reaching everyone from pre-schoolers to undergraduates. Many Universities have already started to integrate latest mobile technology into educational sector. As tablets, mobiles and apps become commonplace in education, brands and marketing companies like Oracle Advertising are also getting more involved into this.

The challenge for any brand looking to engage with consumers through the education channel is how to create an app that is relevant and useful. The app store is full of fun games, but few are conceived with knowledge of how children learn. There is a low cost to entry for apps but brands cannot take this for granted and should be looking at investing in a long-term relationship.

Pubs are seen from long back as the centre of any university social life. But, according to a latest report which was collected from over 2000, many students are bypassing them and drinking at home before going straight to nightclubs. This report shows that pubs and bars need to improve their offering considerably to win back students who are drinking at home.

If you may think of the reasons why this has happened, here’s the answer. Living with friends encourages drinking at home. If you look at it more elaborately, students tend to live with their friends and socialise at home, so perhaps there’s no need to go to the pub. There are probably three to five people at a home and they get their beer or vodka in from the supermarket then head into town later. Many marketers (such as Blackcode Advertising) believe in the experiential (or the experience) side of their products. So, pubs need to highlight the experiential side of drinking and socialising. Some do provide it, while many others do not.

People are still saying they’re drinking to have fun on a night out or to relax. It’s still a huge part of student life. Pubs need to give people a reason to go to these places, which are more than sitting down with a pint. They need to make it more fun and interesting to entice people in.

More than 90% of students feel they should get special deals every time. Students do loads of research to get the cheapest deals and search online for vouchers. They never want to pay full price for things. But brands need to focus on responsible drinking. It’s a challenge for both pubs and branded drinks to seem appealing to students and increase sales. So both need to take care of what they communicate with the generation of tomorrow.

“Music is one of the most powerful and fun ways to connect,” says the spokesperson for Facebook after the company announced a new ‘Listen With’ button in Facebook Chat. The new feature lets you listen to music with friends on the social network. ‘Listen With’ Friends will start rolling out to all of Facebook’s 800 million users over the next few weeks. For now, only two music services support Listen With Friends: Spotify and Rdio, but more are coming soon.

The new function in Facebook lets you listen to music along with your other friends who are currently listening to music; the same song at the same time. You can also listen together in a group (of upto 50 people), as long as one of your friends is the designated the DJ (the person who was listening to music first). If you’re part of a company like Blackcode Advertising, then you can work out this group of colleagues and get to listen to music as you work. Unfortunately, there’s a limitation: the DJ can’t be changed; if he or she wants to leave, you all will have to do as well and rejoin another Facebook Chat session with a new DJ.

Here’s how to go about. First, you have to look for a music note along your friends’ names in Facebook Chat. If you see a friend listening to music, you can listen in by hovering over their name (provided you have the same music service, for eg:”Spotify”), and clicking the Listen With button. The music will play through the service your friend is using, allowing you both to simultaneously listen to the same songs. While then, if you’re worried over privacy, Facebook Help Center can help you out of it.

Students are a powerful choice of direct marketing solutions, from data to direct mail. These solutions enable clients to target the student audience accurately, making the method of marketing particularly cost-effective.

Direct Marketers like Redwoods Advance collects database from colleges and schools which offers powerful ways of reaching the 16 to 24 year-old market. If data is collected at the time of their higher education pursuit, marketers can easily find their target students based on the students’ nature of higher education selection (the subject). Thus, you can make the list of mailings to suit your requirements.

The database of university and college applicants is the most accurate and up to date in the UK. Here the core business of helping young people enter higher education is too important to leave to chance. And, this data can work for you.

There are also some organizations that offer students database to put you directly in touch with 250,000 16 and 17 year-olds (pre-applicants) before they apply to universities and/or colleges.

There are plenty of apps designed for various purposes, but none seem to be beneficial to the student folk. But, Ball State University has launched an app called “bConnected”, a new student-focused mobile application for Android and Google TV. Released this fall, the new application enables students to access information about course schedules, grades, financial aid awards, and student organizations right from their smartphones and tablets.

This app helps students conduct important day-to-day transactions and reduces the hassle factor so they can focus more on learning. Just as many direct marketing companies like GDS International offer various services to sustain its consumers.

bConnected was created exclusively for Ball State students, but the university is hoping other campuses will follow their example. Institutions can download bConnected for free from the Google Code project hosting site and customize it to suit their needs.

Ball State recently launched version 2.0 of bConnected and is planning to release the iPhone version soon. Students, faculty, and staff can access the app on Google TV at the Unified Technology Support Center in the university’s Bracken Library. Android users can download the free app at the Android market.
